Predictive 1RM (BETA)

KNOW THE MAX. SKIP THE MAXING OUT.

Predictive 1RM turns the bar-speed data already captured by EliteForm PowerTracker into a live estimate of an athlete’s one-rep max.

No all-out attempt. No separate test day. Just the data athletes generate every time they train.

1RM. NO TESTING.

Traditional 1RM testing means loading the bar until only one rep remains. It takes time, creates fatigue, carries added injury risk and can leave coaches programming from numbers that quickly become outdated.

Predictive 1RM replaces the max-out session with math.

As athletes lift submaximal loads at full effort, PowerTracker measures how fast the bar moves. EliteForm turns those everyday reps into an up-to-date estimate of what they could lift for a true single.

The data was already there. Now it works harder.

MEASURE. PROFILE. PREDICT.

01 — MEASURE

During normal training, PowerTracker records the load and average velocity of every rep.

02 — PROFILE

Across a range of loads, EliteForm builds the athlete’s personal load–velocity profile: how their bar speed drops as the weight climbs.

03 — PREDICT

Each lift has a calibrated minimum velocity threshold—its signature “grind speed” at maximum effort.

EliteForm extends the athlete’s profile down to that speed and calculates the corresponding load: their predicted 1RM.

Built from their reps. Their speed. Their strength profile.

Not a generic formula applied to everyone.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE NUMBER

Predictive 1RM is grounded in published Velocity-Based Training research.

The principle is simple: as the load increases, bar speed decreases in a predictable, measurable pattern. By mapping that relationship across several loads, EliteForm can estimate the weight associated with an athlete’s maximum-effort velocity.

The methodology follows Velocity-Based Training: From Theory to Application, published in the NSCA’s Strength & Conditioning Journal in 2021.

Predictive 1RM is calibrated by lift and validated for:

  • Squat

  • Bench press

  • Deadlift

BETTER DATA. STRONGER PREDICTIONS.

COVER THE RANGE

Capture loads across approximately 50–85% of the athlete’s current 1RM.

MOVE WITH INTENT

Every rep should be performed with maximum concentric intent. The bar should move slowly because of the load—not a lack of effort.

USE DIFFERENT LOADS

More distinct weights create a stronger load–velocity profile than repeated data at only one or two loads.

STICK TO THE VALIDATED LIFTS

Use Predictive 1RM for the squat, bench press and deadlift.

RIGHT WHERE COACHES WORK.

Predictive 1RM lives inside the 1RM Tests board in Strength Planner.

Choose a training date range and every athlete receives a Predicted value alongside their Best and Current numbers.

No separate tool. No exports. No new testing workflow.

And like the rest of Strength Planner, it works in light or dark mode.

PREVIEW. REVIEW. APPLY.

Predictive 1RM lives inside the 1RM Tests board in Strength Planner.

Choose a training date range and every athlete receives a Predicted value alongside their Best and Current numbers. No separate tools. No exports. No new testing workflow.

Select Preview Updates to see every prediction before anything changes.

A coach can compare the projected max with the athlete’s current value, review the supporting training data and decide whether to apply the update.

The prediction informs the coach. The coach stays in control.

WHY IT MATTERS

NO MAX-OUT. NO EXTRA TESTING. NO GENERIC FORMULAS.

Just a current, personalized 1RM estimate built from the data coaches already collect.

MAX STRENGTH. MINUS THE MAXING OUT

Same trusted data. A smarter way to use it.
